So, yesterday my partner Hrafn and I participated in the 8th Indie Media Fair in London, Ontario. It was a lot of fun, but we are planning a joint post, including a few photos for the next few days. But, at the Media Fair, I unveiled Diana for the first time. I am still considering her to be a work in progress, along with her familiar, but at the same time I love how raw she looks. I am not sure about whether or not she will have hair.. I am currently working on a short story based on her and I like the idea of keeping her bald. Opinions? Anyways, enjoy these unedited, straight from the camera images of her.
So yesterday I promised some new Diana shots.. I still need to work on her face a bit, I’m not happy with the lips area.. hmm.. I’ve been sanding and working on that part of her though, and realized that her legs are a little bit different lengths. But I’ll work with that. In other terrible news, I broke my hands and need to make new ones, sigh sigh sigh. But, my new zine that I’ve been working on for Saturday is going along well, and is a good distraction from Diana. Also, the other day while thrift shopping, I found this Monster High doll of Abbie, brand new still in the box… for an amazing price. So now I have another doll that I need to work on. Yay?
I’ve been working on my doll a lot lately, which inevitably leads to me hating my doll and not wanting to work on it.. BUT I planned for this, and included in my design a rabbit friend, which I thought would be different enough for me to want to work on it, while still working in clay and trying new techniques. I’m really happy with how he looks right now.. I still plan on sanding him a bit, adding eyes, and a fluffy tail, maybe some more details on his ears… but at the same time I really enjoy how simple he looks. Despite my clumsy stringing, he has a few different poses and stays in them nicely. Any criticism, tips, whatever, are always appreciated!!
So, some may remember a post I did last year, teasing about some new dolls I was working on… Well I have to admit that I haven’t finished them. To make matters worse, or better, I started *another* doll.. this one a clay doll. But, I’ve made a personal promise to myself that I have to finish all three dolls I am working on before I am allowed to strip the paint and modify the Lagoona Blue Monster High doll I received for Christmas. To keep me motivated, I plan on including a few work in progress shots from all my dolls in between my art journal/ sketch book posts. By the way, did you notice my nice, clean new theme? It’s a lot less cluttered than my previous theme, which I was never 100% happy with in the first place.
